Banquet Tickets - Cameras - 17+ mpg!

May 6…..Just 16 days to go and I’ll be enjoying my much anticipated mega-burger at the Pilot Butte drive-in for the first event of Tiger Run!  Speaking of eating, we have had a higher than expected demand for banquet tickets, so we have added an additional 50 Banquet tickets that can be purchased now! If you would like to order banquet tickets, contact Frank at 503-304-9298 or DuWyne at 503-363-0268.  We are required to give the banquet caterer a final guest count by Tuesday the 20th, so tickets will be available up to that date.  We cannot reserve tickets that will be paid for when registering for Tiger Run upon arrival at Eagle Crest…payment for banquet tickets must be made prior to May 20th.  Tickets are $25.00 each, the same price the caterer charges us per person!

We have a gentleman coming to Tiger Run, camera in hand, to take pictures of our cars off and on the showfield, and at the race track!  He is a author/photographer and is writing a 350 page book on the GTO, from inception to current.  So smile and spiff up your GTO, you never know!

Wouldn’t you like 17+ miles per gallon out of your GTO?  Me too!  John Green will be giving our Saturday afternoon tech talk on the GearVendors Overdrive.  John has recently installed one in his ‘67 GTO, and stated he got 17.34 mpg out of the first tank of gas.  He still has a minor bug or two to work out, but it will be interesting to see what kind of mileage he got on his trip from Colorado to Tiger Run.  I’m sure this will be a well attended tech talk!    Of course, Jim Wangers will be giving another special presentation at the awards banquet - something about “Wide Track” I believe.   Despite the cost of fuel, we are well past 100 Tiger Run registrants, so plan on a good time all around at Tiger Run 2008!

Tiger Run Support - Menu Items - Refunds!!

April 25….Less than 30 days to Tiger Run!  In helping with the continuing support of Tiger Run, the Tiger Run items you purchase, whether they be memorabilia, raffle tickets, or food items during the show, all help to defray expenses for the best GTOAA regional meet there is to offer!  The Goat Herd GTO Club of Oregon would like everyone to take home with them some sort of memorabilia or remembrance of Tiger Run; we try to control costs so all have an opportunity to win an award, win a raffle item, or purchase a memento - t-shirt, mouse pad, coffee cup or other such items.

The small profit Tiger Run earns on raffle tickets sold, or mementos for sale, help off-set various Tiger Run costs - we pay for and give away some beautiful awards for winners of the show-and-shine, we pay for special guests to be at Tiger Run, we pay for supplies, signs, banquet hall and showfield rental - about the only thing we don’t pay for is the volunteer time and effort each member of the Goat Herd, and other participants, put forth to host such a guality show.  Your registration/raffle/ticket/food/t-shirt/memorabilia purchases help defray these expenses, and the membership of the Goat Herd thank each and every Tiger Run participant for your continued support over the past 18 years!  We hope you will come to Tiger Run ‘08 for the best the Goat Herd has to offer…fun, food and friendship….Check out the next item below for the Goat Herd’s favorite activity…it is a quick menu of items we will be serving at Tiger Run - check out the full menu at the registration/hospitality room at Eagle Crest Resort…..

Tiger Run Free Camping

April 16……Tary Belmont, who lives on 5 acres of property directly across from Eagle Crest Resort, will be bringing a ’67 Firebird convertible to Tiger Run, and has just made a generous offer of FREE camping on those 5 acres of property to any Tiger Run registrant interested!  This information came to us on a registration form, so it would be best to contact Tary for more information for those who are interested in this offer.  The phone number to reach Tary at is a cell phone number of (503)318-6553, or an e-mail address is taryspt@yahoo.com . The address of Tary’s property in Redmond, Oregon is 1908 SW 58th in case you want to find it on mapquest or similar computer search site.  We thank Tary for this offer of FREE camping during Tiger Run, and we appreciate anyone’s help assisting us in making Tiger Run accessible and fun for all!

Tiger Run up-date - Miniature Golf Tournament

April 7…First Annual Tiger Run Golf Tournament………new for Tiger Run 2008 and a grr-eat family activity, we are having a miniature golf tournament at the Eagle Ridge Putting Course.  This is not a practice green.  The Putting Course is a par 72 course on real turf and features water hazards, sand traps, and sneaky breaks that will surprise even the pro’s…all you need is a putter and a golf ball.  This is a grr-eat opportunity to test your putting skills, or to play a round of golf with the kids in an atmosphere that is fun, and really encouraging to even the youngest.   It’s easy to find the course…just listen to the laughter as people try to navigate holes such as The Pit of Despair, Crater Lake and Horseshoe!  The course takes about 90 minutes to play, and golf balls and putter are provided in the cost of the greens fee.  Cleated golf shoes not required!

A ‘drink’ cart will be available Thursday from 5pm to dusk, and Friday from noon until 4pm.  The official start time of Tiger Run’s first event on Friday, the cruise-in to Pilot Butte drive-in, is 5pm, and we don’t want to be late for this one!  Also, those who may not want to attend the Saturday car show and “go golfing” instead may complete the course anytime before 1pm on Saturday.  One winner in adult and junior classes will be announced and awarded an appropriate trophy at the Saturday night Awards Banquet.  In case of a tie score, the earliest submitted score card will be awarded the trophy.  The “Juniors” class are High school and Grammar school students ages 17 1/2 and younger.

There will be special mini-golf score cards for this event.  You may pick them up at the hotel front desk, and please, just one score card per person.  Don’t forget your little pencil!  You need to have a co-player sign your card to verify the score you turn in.  Don’t forget to date and time your score card before you place it in the box at the hotel front desk when finished.  Remember, this is for the fun of it, so we hope all you “golfers” have a grr-eat time!   See you all there!!!

Update to “Good News”….rate reduction for condos

March 16….we have discovered that if you would like to reserve a 2 bedroom condo at Eagle Crest Resort and take advantage of the reduced rate of $180 per night (not incluing tax), you must tell the person taking your reservation that it is under the “Special Rate” for Tiger Run.  The reservationist has to go to a specific area of their computer to get the “Special Rate”.  Again, this special rate reduction is only for a 2 bedroom condominium.  One of our participants requested and received a special rate condo that includes a hot tub!     Now is the time to also check and keep checking to see if any rooms at the hotel have become available…Tiger Run is but 10 short weeks away!

March 2……To enable more Tiger Run participants to stay at Eagle Crest Resort, the management is offering to those who would like to rent a 2-bedroom condo unit for Tiger Run a reduced rate of just $180 per night - a reduction of $20 per night over the original rate.  If you are looking to share a 2-bedroom condo, now is the time to contact Eagle Crest Resort (800-682-4786) and make those provisions!  Those who have already reserved a 2-bedroom condo unit will automatically have their rate adjusted to the lower price.   The management and staff of Eagle Crest Resort have always been extremely helpful to the Tiger Run program, and they have been very generous in their allowances to help make Tiger Run a continuing success!  If there is anything you may need or require during your stay at Eagle Crest Resort, we are sure their management and staff will accommodate your needs as best as possible.

For many of us, travelling to the GTOAA Nationals is either not feasible or possible.  Tiger Run, hosted by the Goat Herd GTO Club of Oregon, is one of only 3 nationwide GTO regional events, and allows many of us the opportunity to gather and enjoy the company of others who share our common interest, the GTO, and other fine cars by Pontiac!  Like the Nationals, we too have a registration/hospitality room, a all Tiger Run participants cruise-in, a Peoples Choice award car show complete with on-the-showfield breakfast and lunch, an awards banquet, drag racing, tech talks, special guests, and time in between events to relax or partake in other extracurricular activities the resort has to offer.

As many of us make use of the time spent at Tiger Run as part of a mini-vacation, many Tiger Run participants have extended their stay, often arriving the Wednesday before Tiger Run and departing the following Monday or Tuesday.  To that end, this year we have added additional activities for those early arrivals, such as the cruise-in to the little city of Sisters on Thursday evening, and a mini-golf tournament on Friday morning.  Information is also available on this website, posted in previous Up-dates, for additional services provided by Eagle Crest Resort, whether it be 18 holes of golf followed by a great 19th hole, hiking and biking trails, a sports center, swimming pools, local and convenient restaurants, or personal care, all surrounded by some really great High Desert scenery and snow-capped mountains.  Enjoy Tiger Run’s activities, available services of the resort, take a few minutes time to stop and visit points of interest, and most of all, come for the fun, food and friendship that abounds!

Tiger Run update - Feb. 11 - Awards Banquet tickets

Tiger Run ‘08 registration is well under way, and orders for Tiger Run shirts, requests for the after drags BBQ tickets and tickets for the Awards Banquet are being tallied.  If you are planning on Awards Banquet tickets, please submit your requests as soon as possible.  We are often asked for banquet tickets by Tiger Run participants as they register for the show on the Friday or Saturday of Tiger Run, or we are asked to reserve tickets to the awards banquet.  Eagle Crest Resort is the entity through whom banquet catering is provided to Tiger Run and the catering service is part of the contract we sign with Eagle Crest Resort.  Part of the contract stipulation for catering service is Tiger Run must provide an exact number of tickets sold for the awards banquet by the Wednesday prior to Tiger Run, and no later.   This does not allow Tiger Run the ability to sell award banquet tickets after that day!  Nor can we reserve tickets, as Tiger Run is responsible for the actual number of banquet guests given the caterer….if reserved tickets are not picked up, Tiger Run must still pay for those dinners.  So we ask you please be congnizant of our limitations on selling banquet tickets, and please order yours as soon as possible.    CANCELLATION POLICY…registration cancellation requests that include banquet tickets must be received by us ONE WEEK prior to Tiger Run for a full refund.  Cancellations after that point that include banquet tickets will not receive banquet ticket refunds!       What are we having for our banquet dinner?   This year’s menu includes the main course of Chicken Picatta, along with mixed veggies, salad, rolls and butter, coffee and lemonade.  We have had this served to us in the past….it was very good, and there was plenty!  This was actually a requested dinner menu by several past Tiger Run participants!  Did you notice the main course items for the After Drags BBQ?  Your choice of BBQ Ribs, or BBQ Chicken.  Our own Chef DuWyne, who provides the breakfast and lunch at the showfield on Saturday, will also be serving up a sizeable BBQ after drag racing.  Be sure to check off your choice on the registration form!

Our Friday night cruise-in this year will be back to the famous Pilot Butte Restaurant in Bend - our most favorite cruise-in spot!  Cruise-in hours are generally from 5pm to 9pm, or later.  Be sure to bring a warm jacket, as it does get cool when the sun goes down.  For those who will be new to Tiger Run, or have not been with us for a while, we will have a “Welcome to Tiger Run” meeting in the main lobby of the hotel about 4:45pm.  Tiger Run’s Grand PooBah, Jim Gulley, will give an introduction to new Tiger Run participants regarding our show and the events of the weekend.   For those who do not know where the Pilot Butte drive-in is in Bend, we will try to intersperse drivers who have been there before amongst the cruisers, and you can follow them to the drive-in.  A map to Pilot Butte will also be provided in your Information Packet, including a map of Eagle Crest Resort indicating the showfield and trailer parking areas, and a map to Madras for drag racing.    As a final note, please notice the hours of Registration in the Schedule of Events.  Registration will be temporarily closed from 5pm to 8pm on Friday night, as we want everyone to have the opportunity to attend the much anticipated cruise-in to Pilot Butte, and that includes Tiger Run staff.
